THE BARNES FOUNDATION
About 20 years ago I bought and old farmhouse with a garden that needed restoring. I enrolled in the three-year horticultural program at the Barnes Foundation Arboretum School to learn how to manage the property. In the process, I fell in love with native plants and their life histories and was subsequently inspired to create this body of artwork. I wanted to record this information and advocate for nature in a way that was educational and entertaining.
The Barnes Foundation was very supportive of my early artwork, featuring it in their newly established Center City Philadelphia museum store and collaborating with me to develop related products for the store.
